Focus and Scope
Aims & Scope
- To provide an insight into and analysis of the management of arts and cultural organisations within Australia, the Asia Pacific Region and the rest of the world;
- To provide a platform for debate about cultural policy and current theories about management practice, as well as major/current issues of relevance to the sector;
- To identify and encourage the development of best practice in the management of culture and the arts, and to promote their use through the publication of case studies and analyses;
- To provide quality research outcomes for the arts sector.

Peer Review Process
Refereed Articles - Academic Papers
Manuscripts from practitioners and researchers will be subject to an initial review by the Editor. If regarded as suitable, manuscripts will be then submitted to a double blind peer review. Reviewers comments will be made available to the author/authors. The Editor will make any final decision regarding publication.
Since all manuscripts submitted for publication will be subject to a double-blind refereeing process, the author’s name, title and affiliation should appear on the first page only, with the main author listed first if there is more than one. Manuscripts whether accepted or rejected will not be returned to the author's/authors'.
Refereed contributions should be between 4000 and 7000 words in length and are eligible for DEST points.
Non-refereed Articles - Industry Papers
Manuscripts from practitioners and researchers will be subject to review by the Editor or Guest Editor, who will make any final decision regarding publication.
Non-refereed contributions should be between 2000 and 4000 words in length and are not eligible for DEST points.

Editorial Policy
Manuscripts are invited from researchers, academics and practitioners. The primary demographic focus of the Journal is to publish articles originating from and relevant to the Asia Pacific Region or from contributors located outside of this region if the content is relevant to the region.
Manuscripts for submission should be located around one or more of the following areas:
- The arts and cultural environment and/or cultural policy
- Issues addressing aspects of the cultural or creative industry discourse
- Issues relating to the arts and cultural sector re:
- Finance
- Law
- Leadership / Management
- Marketing
- Organisational Studies
All contributions must be original material and not currently under consideration by other publications. After acceptance and publication copyright will be transferred to the Publisher, unless a prior arrangement has been made.
Authors must ensure that references to named people and/or organisations are accurate, non-discriminatory with regard to race or sex and without libellous implications. The opinions expressed in the Asia Pacific Journal of Arts & Cultural Management are solely those of the authors.
All reasonable efforts are made to ensure the accurate reproduction of text, photographs and illustrations. The Publisher does not accept responsibility for mistakes, be they editorial or typographical, nor for consequences resulting from them. The Editor reserves the right to make appropriate changes related to the correctness of grammar or spelling, or to ensure conformity to the Journal’s style.
Authors submitting manuscripts must specify which section of the Journal they wish to be considered for ie: refereed or non-refereed.
Authors must also submit:
- An abstract of between 100-150 words outlining the manuscript’s aims, main conclusions and (if applicable) the methodology used;
- Acknowledgements (if applicable) of no more than 80 words, including information on grants, and statements about the genesis of the manuscript;
- List of up to 6 keywords;
- Short biography of the author(s) of no more than 50 words.
Publication Frequency
It is intended that the Asia Pacific Journal of Arts & Cultural Management will be published two to three times a year.
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
Establishment
The Asia Pacific Journal of Arts & Cultural Management is an initiative of the University of South Australia’s Arts & Cultural Management Program. The journal aims to support the promotion of a research ethos within the arts and cultural sector in the Asia Pacific Region. The Journal will however also consider articles with a wider perspective e.g. from authors outside of Australia and the Asia Pacific Region, if the articles are relevant to the region.
The Journal is registered with the Department of Education, Science and Training in Australia and is included in the DEST Register of Refereed Journals (www.dest.gov.au/highered/research/herdc.htm). The Journal is comprised of refereed research; industry research that is not refereed; and commissioned articles from leading industry identities. The Journal was launched with a call for papers in March 2003 and the first edition was released in December 2003.Current Partner Institutions / Organisations
