Special Issue: Case Studies of Organisations in India Guest Editor: Dr. Brian D’Netto

Over the past decade the Indian economy has grown rapidly. This growth has resulted from trade liberalisation, market oriented structural reforms and the abundant supply of a highly skilled workforce. The salary for qualified professionals in the west is between six to ten times more than the salary paid to the similar professionals in India. The total expected saving on outsourcing work to India is at least forty percent. It is for these reasons that a large number of organisations in the West have outsourced a significant part of their work to India. In addition, foreign direct investment in India continues to increase at a rapid pace.

Given the global focus on India, several Business Schools in the West are actively looking for current case studies on management issues in India. This special issue of the Management Case Study Journal comprises five case studies on India. Nearly all the authors are of Indian origin. Academics with an Indian background have an in-depth understanding of Indian culture, and are able to describe unique management challenges that organisations in India face. The case studies in this Special Issue on India, will be of immense interest to students in Business Management Programs in India and overseas.
